Cowgirl Crunch is a small, hand-folded kettle chip project based in Austin, Texas. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website at cowgirlcrunch.com, join our waitlist, or get in touch — and how we use, share, and protect it. We’ve done our best to keep it plain. By using the site, you acknowledge that you’ve read and understood this policy.

Cowgirl Crunch is currently operated by an individual, Shay, based in Austin, Texas, who is responsible for the personal information described here. We expect to form a business entity in the future; if the operator changes, we’ll update this policy.

Personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with the site, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

• Contact details you give us. Your email address when you join our waitlist or email club, and your name, email address, and message when you use our contact form.
• Device and technical information. Your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view. This is collected automatically in standard server logs by our hosting provider.
• Usage information. How you interact with the site — such as pages viewed and certain actions you take (for example, clicking the preorder button) — collected through cookies and the Meta Pixel described below.

We do not collect payment card or financial account information (see “The preorder button” below).

How we collect it

• Directly from you when you submit a form or otherwise contact us.
• Automatically as you use the site, through cookies, the Meta Pixel, and server logs.
• From our service providers when they collect or process information on our behalf (see “Service providers we use”).

How we use your personal information

• Run the waitlist and email club. We use your email to send you waitlist confirmations, batch and shipping updates, retail-opening announcements, and the occasional update. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
• Marketing and advertising. We use cookies and the Meta Pixel to measure and improve our advertising and to show you relevant ads on Meta’s platforms and elsewhere, including retargeting based on your visit to our site.
• Communicate with you. We use your contact-form details to respond to your questions and messages.
• Security and legal reasons. We use technical information to keep the site working and secure, and we may use or disclose information to comply with applicable law or valid legal process.

The preorder button

At this early stage, our “Preorder” button is a way for us to gauge interest. Clicking it registers your interest and fires an analytics event (an “InitiateCheckout” event via the Meta Pixel). It does not place an order, create a purchase, or collect any payment, credit card, or billing information. If and when we open real preorders or checkout, we will update this policy and make any collection of payment information clear at that time.

Cookies and similar technologies

We and our providers use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies (collectively, “cookies”), including the Meta Pixel, to understand page views and actions, measure our marketing, keep the site working, and show you relevant ads. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings, and let you clear cookies already stored. If you turn cookies off, some parts of the site may not work as intended.

Advertising and your choices

We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel for advertising measurement and retargeting. You can control interest-based advertising from Meta through your Meta ad preferences, through industry opt-out tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance and Your Online Choices (EU), and through your browser’s cookie controls. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any message.

Service providers we use

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us operate the site and our waitlist, and only as needed for them to provide their services. Each uses your information under its own privacy policy:

• Klaviyo — our email marketing platform. It stores your email address (and the name and message you submit through the contact form) and sends our emails.
• Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook / Instagram) — advertising. The Meta Pixel and related cookies help us measure and target our ads.
• Netlify — our website host. Netlify automatically logs basic technical data, such as your IP address, browser and device, and the pages you view, in standard server logs.
• Formspree — if you use our contact form, it processes and delivers your submission to us.

We may also disclose personal information where necessary to comply with applicable law or legal process, or to enforce our terms and protect our rights and the rights of others.

Third-party links

The site may link to websites or platforms operated by others (for example, our social media pages). We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please review their policies before providing them with your information.

Children’s privacy

The site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below and we will delete it.

Security and data retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security. Please don’t send sensitive information through unsecured channels.

We keep your personal information for as long as we need it to provide the waitlist and site, and to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. In practice, we keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, after which we remove it from our active lists.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live — for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — you may have some or all of the following rights. These rights aren’t absolute and may not apply in every case.

• Access / know — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate information.
• Delete — ask us to delete information we hold about you.
• Portability — request a copy of your information in a portable form.
• Opt out of targeted advertising — as described in “Advertising and your choices” above.
• Manage email preferences — unsubscribe from our emails at any time.

International visitors

We’re based in the United States, and the service providers we use are located in the United States. If you visit the site from outside the U.S., your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we do, we’ll post the revised policy here and update the effective date above.
